Property podium for Intrinsic at industry triathlon

Matt, 31, an environmental intern with Intrinsic Facilities Engineering (IFE) completed the sprint triathlon at Dorney Lake in 01:05:39, narrowly missing the top spot by 7 seconds.

His Intrinsic teammates Chris Roberts, Ben Ferguson and Ben Richards put in solid individual performances despite temperatures which topped 30 degrees.

“We’re a goal-driven and competitive firm and take our triathlon equally seriously,” explained IFE Managing Director Chris Roberts. “Business has been buoyant but demanding in the run-up to this year’s event so serious training has taken a back seat. Nevertheless, we pulled together as a team on the day and are thrilled with Matt’s podium success and our combined efforts.”

As temperatures rose, Matt led his wave from the gun to tape with a strong swim, solid bike and a run that started to show pre-injury form. But his misjudged flying mount in the bike transition cost him the top spot on the podium. Earlier in the day his colleague Ben Richards enjoyed an equally strong performance sneaking into the top 25 finishers and top 5 in category.

“Yet again, JLL Property Triathlon delivered an incredible day of racing with the sector coming together to raise over £230k for Crisis UK”, reflected Matt. “I was gutted to miss out on the overall win but it’s tangibly close and we’ll certainly be returning next year.”

Next up Team Intrinsic heads for the Croyde Ocean Triathlon on 14th July where Matt hopes to improve on his 2nd place finish in 2018 and 2017 over the savage Olympic distance course.
